Hi Teresa and faithful supporters of Teresa!
Teresa did many things today at PC Bunk for the Asiasoft's AuditionSEA Launch Party at PC Bunk. This will be a long report...
This time, Teresa's song selection was right on, perfectly suited for the launch party's atmosphere and audience. Her overall performance today was much better than the previous one at Toa Payoh last week.
1) Sang "Ni De Wei Siao" 3 times - the first time as a solo piece, the second time together with three members of audience as accompanying dancers to the song and the third time to choose the best accompanying dancer among the three boys. 2) Answered some questions from the mcee. 3) Sang "Ci Niao". 4) Officiate the launch of AuditionSEA with Asiasoft CEO and MiLuBing
1) Teresa's vocals did not seem to have properly warmed up for the first rendition of "Ni De Wei Siao" because she did not manage to pronounciate the final word for two of the lines of the song. Nevertheless, those two split-second moments were negligible in the overall performance of the song.
I was not particularly happy with the mcee because he did not seem to have stireed up the audience properly before you first entered PC Bunk so the applause was still not as loud as you deserved and his comments lacked the kind of punch to stir up the audience, not just for you but also for MiLuBing and other previous performers as well.
Also, the audience had been standing for quite a while before your first performance and their legs were already aching from all that standing for at least an hour. Realizing that they could be too tired by the time your performance turn came, I intervened by asking the organizers twice to get half the audience seated and fortunately, the audience was more rested to give much more enthusiastic response for Teresa's second song "Ci Niao".
The three boys who were selected as Teresa's accompanying dancers were really shy at the start but they finally managed to open up a little at the last selection segment. Teresa's choice was the same as mine - the boy with the dyed hair because he could improvise the best and was the more expressive of all the three.
2) Teresa answered some questions from the mcee about her personal singing and dancing habits. I felt the mcee was a little too rushed in attempting to ask questions even before Teresa could finish answering his previous question. Maybe he was really nervous after hearing Teresa's incredible voice and singing over the microphone. Teresa, in my opinion, could have fared a little better, by being more audible in her answers and face the audience more when she answer the questions.
Teresa, perhaps you can work a little on your interviewing skills because a Superstar is not just about a voice, but also having a personality for people to understand who and how you are as a person. Being fluent in answering questions will give your celebrity status a boost as mcees will be more inclined to help you onstage.
3) Teresa's second song "Ci Niao" after the mcee's interview and the selection of accompanying dancer was - flawless. The audience was listening with abated breath at how well Teresa had presented the song and I could find nothing about that performance to critique on. I think you have gained a few more fans of your singing because even the mcee had publicly praised your singing after your exit.
On hindsight, I was thinking of how you could learn to duplicate the mood management of "Ci Niao" into "Ni De Wei Siao" because the latter song seemed a little dry even though it was supposed to be of a dance genre. Teresa, maybe you can think about it and see if you could adjust accordingly and comfortably in time before you sing "Ni De Wei Siao" again tomorrow at Toa Payoh HDB Hub.
4) Teresa officated the launch of AuditionSEA with CEO of Asiasoft and MiLuBing and it could be seen that she was enjoying herself with the celebratory poppers. The smell of gunpowder was strong and I had to leave the party without listening to MiLubing's second performance.
Overall performance rating:
Teresa: ****1/4
"Jin Tian De Biao Xian Heng Hao" =)
Teresa, as promised, a long-outstanding handshake ever since I started guiding you over TFC when you first sang "Ai Mei" in Campus Sueprstar competition. I still remembered how I had to shield you from the vicious verbal attacks and abuses from some of Geraldine's volatile fans at Campus Superstar forum. Ah...those wild days of competition...
You seemed in such a big hurry today that we did not manage to chat more. Do send my kind regards to your mother and tell her she is most welcome in her thanks because you deserve my support and help. Now that we have (finally) introduced ourselves to each other, I suppose we are considered friends. Let me see what I could do about my schedule tomorrow and I hope I can squeeze out some time to watch your Toa Payoh performance ard 3pm, my friend.
